Target Information
Bovine myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) is a protein found in the central nervous system, specifically in the oligodendrocytes and the myelin sheath of CNS neurons. It is involved in the immune response and is a target of autoantibodies in demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS). MOG is also used in the development of animal models for studying these diseases, particularly experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). Research suggests that MOG could be a therapeutic target for immunotherapy of MS, with potential treatments involving the use of Bovine milk vesicles to induce MOG-specific tolerance.
