Target Information

Canine cholecystokinins (CCK) are gastrointestinal hormones that play a multifaceted role in canine digestion and satiety. They stimulate pancreatic enzyme secretion and gallbladder contraction, delay gastric emptying, and influence food intake by acting on the lower esophageal sphincter. CCK also functions as a neurotransmitter in the brain and peripheral neurons, affecting satiety and eating disorders. It is secreted by enteroendocrine cells in the small intestine in response to food, particularly fats and proteins, and has a short half-life in the bloodstream.
