Target Information
Canine interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a significant role in immune responses, inflammation, and the acute phase reaction. It is produced by various cells including T cells, B cells, monocytes/macrophages, fibroblasts, hepatocytes, keratinocytes, astrocytes, endothelial cells, and various tumor cells. IL-6 is involved in the regulation of immune responses, particularly in the activation of B cells, T cells, and the acute phase proteins in the liver. It also plays a role in the pathogenesis of various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, as well as in the promotion of cancer cell growth and survival. IL-6 is a crucial mediator in the communication between immune cells and is essential for maintaining immune homeostasis in dogs.
