Target Information
Canine natriuretic peptides B, specifically B-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP), is a hormone released from the heart in response to increased pressure and volume loads. It plays a crucial role in regulating blood pressure, promoting natriuresis (sodium excretion), and diuresis (increased urine production). In dogs, BNP is used as a biomarker for heart diseases, particularly in the diagnosis and management of heart failure. Elevated levels of BNP or its inactive N-terminal fragment, NT-proBNP, can indicate cardiac stress or dysfunction.
