Target Information

Canine oral papillomavirus major capsid protein L1 (L1) is a key structural protein that forms virus-like particles (VLPs) and induces a strong humoral immune response. In veterinary medicine, L1-based VLPs are used to develop vaccines that provide 99% efficacy against oral papilloma development. These vaccines have also shown therapeutic effects in treating refractory oral papillomatosis in dogs. Additionally, L1 is used in diagnostic assays for virus detection and in immunohistochemical studies to identify viral infections.
