Target Information

Canine oral papillomavirus protein E6 (E6) is an oncoprotein that plays a role in viral pathogenesis. Unlike high-risk human papillomavirus E6 proteins that degrade p53, canine E6 does not target p53 for degradation. Instead, it may interact with other cellular proteins to promote cell survival and proliferation. In veterinary medicine, E6 is used as a biomarker to study the progression of oral papillomas to neoplasia and to understand the mechanisms of viral-induced cellular changes. Its role in disrupting normal cell functions makes it a potential target for therapeutic interventions.
