Target Information
Canine pro-adrenomedullin (Pro-ADM) is a precursor to adrenomedullin (ADM), a potent vasodilator peptide involved in various physiological processes. In dogs, Pro-ADM is stable in the bloodstream and serves as a biomarker for ADM synthesis. It is associated with cardiovascular health, acting as a vasodilator to help maintain vascular tone and integrity. Pro-ADM levels can indicate the severity of conditions like heart failure, where it counteracts the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and oxidative stress, suppressing excessive tissue proliferation and decreasing tissue injuries caused by various pathogenic stimuli.
