Mouse Sclerostin (Sost) is a protein produced by osteocytes that inhibits bone formation. Sost binds to low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 5 and 6, blocking the Wnt signaling pathway essential for bone formation. Sost is a target for therapies aimed at enhancing bone formation and treating conditions such as osteoporosis.
