Target Information

Shigella primarily causes disease in primates and does not affect other mammals. Shigella flexneri is one of the species within the Shigella genus. Alongside Shigella sonnei, it accounts for 90% of shigellosis cases. Flagellin is the subunit protein which polymerizes to form the filaments of bacterial flagella.
