Swine osteopontin (SPP1) is a secreted phosphoprotein that plays a multifaceted role in the physiology and pathology of swine. It is involved in biomineralization, tissue remodeling, and inflammation. In pigs, SPP1 contributes to immune response modulation, particularly in the recruitment of monocytes/macrophages and cytokine secretion in leukocytes. It also plays a role in bone homeostasis and is associated with various inflammatory conditions and metabolic disorders.
