Target Information
Keratin 18 (K18) is a type I cytokeratin, often found alongside its filament partner, keratin 8 (K8). Together, they are among the most commonly expressed products of the intermediate filament gene family. Keratin 18 is encoded by the porcine KRT18 gene. It is a marker gene for immature Sertoli cells. Research has shown that KRT18 mRNA is expressed in swine testicular cells but not in 60-day and 180-day porcine testes.
