Target Information

Arachidonic acid (AA) is an essential fatty acid and a precursor in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, thromboxanes, and leukotrienes. Arachidonic acid has a 20-carbon chain and four cis-double bonds. The first double bond is located at the sixth carbon from the omega end. There is a large biological variability in milk arachidonic acid metabolite concentrations in cows with acute coliform mastitis.
