Target Information

Bovine Collagen type I alpha 2 chain is encoded by the COL1A2 gene in cattle. It plays a crucial role in the formation of type I collagen, which is abundant in various connective tissues, including bone, skin, tendons, and cornea. Mutations in the COL1A2 gene are associated with conditions such as osteogenesis imperfecta (types I-IV), Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and idiopathic osteoporosis. An increase in the expression of type I procollagen was found in advanced stage granulomas in Mycobacterium bovis-infected cattle.
