Target Information
Dopamine Beta-Hydroxylase (DBH), also known as dopamine beta-monooxygenase, is an enzyme (EC 1.14.17.1) encoded by the DBH gene in cattle. It catalyzes the conversion of dopamine to norepinephrine. Specifically, it adds a hydroxyl group to dopamine, resulting in the formation of norepinephrine. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) serves as a cofactor for this enzymatic reaction. DBH is considered to be the first copper-quinoprotein hydroxylase found.
