Ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC), also known as ornithine carbamoyltransferase, is an enzyme (EC 2.1.3.3) that catalyzes the conversion of ornithine and carbamoyl phosphate into citrulline. This reaction is the second step of the urea cycle, which helps detoxify ammonia produced from amino acid catabolism.
