Target Information
Guanylyl cyclase-activating protein 1 is encoded by the GUCA1A gene in bovine. This protein acts as a signal booster for an enzyme called guanylyl cyclase. It activates guanylyl cyclase, leading to the production of a messenger molecule called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). cGMP, in turn, regulates various cellular processes like smooth muscle relaxation, gene expression, and cell proliferation. It is a calcium binding protein which is highly expressed in photoreceptor outer segments.
