Target Information

Lactic acid is an organic acid that is widely distributed in animal tissues and is used in the biosynthesis of proteins. Lactic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) due to the presence of a hydroxyl group adjacent to the carboxyl group. Lactic acid is produced in both artificial synthesis and natural sources. Bovine lactic acidosis syndrome is associated with large increases of lactic acid in the rumen.
