cGMP-Specific 3',5'-Cyclic Phosphodiesterase (PDE5A), also known as PDE5, is an enzyme encoded by the PDE5A gene in cattle. PDE5 plays a crucial role in signal transduction by regulating the intracellular concentration of cyclic nucleotides. Specifically, it catalyzes the hydrolysis of cGMP (cyclic guanosine monophosphate) to 5'-GMP (guanosine monophosphate). It is expressed in smooth muscle cells and plays an important role in regulation of vascular tone.
