Target Information

β2 microglobulin (B2M) is a component of MHC class I molecules and is a protein with a low molecular weight that shares sequence similarity with immunoglobulins. B2M serves as a tumor marker for certain blood cell cancers, assists in detecting kidney damage, and helps differentiate between glomerular and tubular kidney disorders. β2-microglobulin is closely related to the immunogenetic system, although its exact function is not fully understood. However, it is considered a useful parameter for monitoring the activity of inflammation, malignancy and autoimmune diseases. β2-microglobulin in dogs has important roles in disease correlation, immunomodulation, and as a biomarker. Although its specific functions require further study.
