Target Information
Bovine Apoptosis-Associated Speck-Like Protein containing a CARD is encoded by the PYCARD gene in cattle. This gene encodes an adaptor protein composed of two protein-protein interaction domains: an N-terminal PYRIN-PAAD-DAPIN domain (PYD) and a C-terminal caspase-recruitment domain (CARD). The PYD and CARD domains are members of the six-helix bundle death domain-fold superfamily, which mediates the assembly of large signalling complexes in inflammatory and apoptotic pathways via caspase activation. It has been implicated in the biological process of regulating macrophage cytokine production.
