Specifications
Target Information
Mucins are a family of high-molecular weight, heavily glycosylated proteins produced by epithelial tissues in most animals. Bovine submaxillary mucin (BSM) has unique physical properties, such as high molecular weight and amphiphilicity, which allow it to be used for many biomedical applications. BSM coatings are a surface treatment applied to biomaterials to reduce the growth of harmful bacteria and fungi such as S. epidermidis, E. coli and Candida albicans.
Shipping and Storage
Store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
