Target Information
Interleukin 1 beta, encoded by the IL1B gene in sheep, serves as a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine. Initially recognized as a major endogenous pyrogen, it induces prostaglandin synthesis, promotes neutrophil influx and activation, facilitates T-cell activation and cytokine production, boosts B-cell activation and antibody production, and stimulates fibroblast proliferation and collagen production. It has also been identified as a valuable marker for characterizing vaginal inflammation.
