Target Information
Caspase-9, encoded by the CASP9 gene in dogs, is an initiator caspase crucial for the apoptotic pathway present in various tissues. In vitro research has shown that upstream caspases activate in response to apoptotic signals, subsequently processing downstream effector caspases responsible for dismantling cellular structures. Caspase-9, as an upstream caspase, can be activated by cellular damage, such as the absence of growth factors and exposure to oxidative stress in vitro. Caspase-9 activity is regulated by a variety of molecules, including phosphorylation, protease processing, and binding to Apaf-1.
