Target Information

Fat exists in milk as triglyceride droplets encapsulated by a complex membrane derived from the mammary epithelial cell, known as the milk fat globule membrane (MFGM). In goats, lactadherin, a member of the milk fat globule membrane protein family, is encoded by the MFGE8 gene. Research has revealed that goat milk lactadherin consists of a single polypeptide chain.
