Target Information
Plasminogen is an enzyme precursor present in the blood. When activated, it becomes plasmin, which is responsible for fibrinolysis. Fibrinolysis refers to the breakdown of fibrin, a protein involved in blood clot formation. Plasminogen is encoded by the PLG gene in pigs. In physiological salt solutions, porcine plasminogen is resistant to activation by urokinase or trypsin and to proteolysis at Lys77 by plasmin or trypsin.
