Target Information
Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate (cGMP) is a cyclic nucleotide derived from guanosine triphosphate (GTP). It acts as a second messenger, much like cyclic AMP, and is involved in regulating ion channel conductance, glycogenolysis, and cellular apoptosis. Research has shown that the cGMP binding properties of chicken cone PDE6 holoenzyme are very similar to those of the bacterially expressed individual GAF-A or GAF-A/B domains.
