Target Information
Macrophage migration inhibitory factor, also known as MIF, is encoded by the MIF gene. This gene encodes a lymphokine that may be involved in cell-mediated immune regulation. It plays a role in regulating macrophage function in host defense by inhibiting the anti-inflammatory effect of glucocorticoids. Research has shown that both host and parasite MIF molecules bind to chicken macrophages via the surface receptor ChCD74.
