Target Information

The OGG1 gene in chickens encodes for Oxoguanine Glycosylase 1, which is the primary DNA glycosylase responsible for repairing 8-OHdG lesions in DNA. In a previous study, researchers found that the use of a probiotic supplement containing E. faecium and B. amyloliquefaciens during the first week of chicken rearing resulted in a reduction of DNA repair enzymes (OGG1 and APEX-1) in the small intestinal wall. This effect persisted until the end of the rearing period.
