Target Information

Matrix Metalloproteinase 9 is encoded by the MMP9 gene in horses. As one of the most widely investigated MMPs, regulates pathological remodeling processes that involve inflammation and fibrosis in cardiovascular disease. MMP9 has been shown to be a diagnostic indicator of survival during sepsis. In addition, MMP9 concentration in peritoneal fluid is a valuable biomarker associated with endotoxemia in equine colic.
