Canine Aldose Reductase is an enzyme involved in the reduction of aldehydes and aldoses, playing a key role in carbohydrate metabolism and the polyol pathway. It has been implicated in diabetic complications due to its role in sorbitol accumulation under hyperglycemic conditions. This enzyme is highly conserved across species and shares structural similarities with human aldose reductase.
