Target Information

Canine interferon beta (IFN-β) is a critical component of the innate immune response in dogs, playing a significant role in the antiviral defense mechanism. It is produced by various cells in response to viral infections and stimulates the activation of interferon-stimulated response elements (ISREs), which in turn promote the expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs), leading to broad-spectrum antiviral effects. IFN-β also modulates the immune response by enhancing antigen presentation, inducing cytokine and chemokine production, and amplifying the effector functions of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. Its importance is further highlighted by its ability to inhibit the growth of various viruses, including Neospora caninum tachyzoites, in a dose-dependent manner.
