Target Information
Porcine dihydropyrimidinase-like 5 (DPYSL5), also known as DRP-2, is a member of the dihydropyrimidinase (DPYS) family of proteins, which are involved in a variety of cellular processes including cytoskeletal dynamics, cell signaling, and metabolism. DPYSL5, in particular, has been implicated in the regulation of neuronal development and function, as well as in the control of cell growth and differentiation. As a molecular target, DPYSL5 is significant due to its potential role in neuroprotection and its association with neurodegenerative diseases. It is thought to play a part in the stabilization of microtubules and the maintenance of neuronal morphology, which are critical for proper neuronal function. Dysregulation of DPYSL5 has been linked to conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
