Target Information

Canine zona occludens 1 (cZO-1) is a tight junction protein found in dogs, which plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity and function of epithelial and endothelial cell layers. Tight junctions are essential for creating barriers that regulate the passage of solutes and water between cells and are critical for tissue integrity, particularly in the skin, blood vessels, and the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. cZO-1 is part of the zona occludens family of proteins, which are named for their localization at the occluding zone or sealing region of tight junctions. It interacts with various transmembrane and cytoplasmic proteins to form a complex network that provides a physical barrier and also plays a role in cell signaling.
