Target Information
Microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP-2) is a high molecular weight protein that is predominantly expressed in the neurons of the central nervous system. It plays a crucial role in the structural integrity and function of dendrites by binding to microtubules and promoting their stability. MAP-2 is involved in the regulation of neuronal development, including the growth and branching of dendrites, as well as the formation and maintenance of synapses. Its expression is developmentally regulated, with high levels found during the period of active synaptogenesis.
