Target Information
Protein phosphatase 2A catalytic alpha (PP2A-Cα) is a subunit of the PP2A complex, which is a highly conserved serine/threonine phosphatase involved in a multitude of cellular processes. PP2A is composed of a scaffold A subunit, a catalytic C subunit, and a regulatory B subunit, with the Cα subunit being one of the isoforms of the catalytic subunit. PP2A-Cα plays a critical role in reversing the effects of protein kinases by removing phosphate groups from serine and threonine residues on target proteins. This activity is essential for the regulation of cell growth, division, and the maintenance of cellular homeostasis. The PP2A complex is also implicated in the control of signal transduction pathways, including those involved in apoptosis and the response to DNA damage.
