Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 163 (CD163) is a scavenger receptor, a member of the cysteine-rich family, which is a monocyte/macrophage-specific membrane marker. CD163 is considered a marker of alternatively activated or anti-inflammatory macrophages. Swine CD163 is a major determinant for the entry of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV). CD163 functions as innate immune sensor for gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
