Target Information
Porcine CCR4-NOT transcription complex subunit 3, also known as CNOT3, is a component of the CCR4-NOT complex, which is a multi-subunit complex with essential roles in the regulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. CNOT3, as part of this complex, is involved in the deadenylation of messenger RNA (mRNA) molecules, a process that shortens the poly(A) tails of mRNAs and often leads to their degradation, thus controlling the stability and translation of a wide range of mRNAs. As a molecular target, CNOT3 is significant due to its involvement in the control of mRNA stability and translation, which are critical for various cellular processes, including cell growth, differentiation, and response to stress. Dysregulation of mRNA processing has been implicated in numerous diseases, making CNOT3 a potential therapeutic target for conditions such as cancer, where altered mRNA stability can contribute to uncontrolled cell proliferation.
