Porcine dynamin 1 (DNM1), a homologue of the human dynamin protein, is a large GTPase enzyme that is integral to the process of membrane fission, particularly in the context of endocytosis, the internalization of membrane-bound substances into the cell. DNM1 is instrumental in the scission of vesicles from the plasma membrane, a critical step in the regulation of signal transduction, nutrient uptake, and the recycling of cell surface receptors.
