Target Information

Porcine TATA box binding protein (pTBP) is a transcription factor of significant importance in pigs, as it is in other organisms. TBP is a key component of the transcription machinery that binds to the TATA box, a DNA sequence commonly found in the promoter regions of eukaryotic genes. This binding is essential for the initiation of RNA polymerase II transcription and, subsequently, for the accurate and efficient expression of genetic information. As a research target, pTBP is vital for understanding the fundamental processes of gene regulation in pigs. It plays a central role in the assembly of the transcription preinitiation complex, making it a pivotal factor in controlling which genes are turned on or off.
