Target Information
Porcine Thymidine Kinase Cytosolic (TK1) is a key enzyme involved in nucleotide metabolism, catalyzing the phosphorylation of deoxythymidine to deoxythymidine monophosphate (dTMP), an essential step for DNA synthesis. This enzyme exists in both dimeric and tetrameric forms, with the latter being highly active. TK1 levels fluctuate with the cell cycle, making it a useful proliferation marker. It is also involved in antiviral drug mechanisms and is used in the selection of hybridoma cell lines.
