Target Information
Canine vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) is a key cytokine that promotes angiogenesis and vasculogenesis, playing a significant role in tumor growth and metastasis. It binds to VEGF receptors (VEGFR)-1 and VEGFR-2, which are predominantly expressed in vascular endothelial cells, and is considered a major factor in canine neoplastic diseases. High serum VEGF-A concentrations are observed in dogs with proliferative diseases, suggesting its potential as a biomarker for disease progression and therapeutic response. Furthermore, VEGF-A and its receptor VEGFR-2 are highly conserved between humans and dogs, indicating their importance in cross-species studies for therapeutic applications.
