Target Information
Porcine Transcription Factor SOX-2 (SOX2) is a critical transcription factor involved in embryonic development and stem cell maintenance. It belongs to the SOX family of proteins, characterized by an HMG box domain that binds DNA. SOX2 forms complexes with OCT4 and controls the expression of genes involved in early embryogenesis, such as YES1, FGF4, and UTF1. It is essential for maintaining pluripotency in embryonic stem cells and serves as a stem cell marker. SOX2 is also involved in neural development, promoting neural stem cell self-renewal and suppressing neuronal differentiation.
