Target Information
Porcine adenylyl cyclase-associated protein 1 (pCAP1) is a multifunctional protein that plays a pivotal role in the regulation of cAMP signaling within cells. As an essential component of the adenylyl cyclase complex, pCAP1 is involved in the synthesis of cyclic AMP (cAMP), a secondary messenger that modulates various cellular processes, including signal transduction, gene expression, and metabolism. This protein enhances the activity of adenylyl cyclase, the enzyme responsible for cAMP production, in response to hormonal or neuronal stimuli. By doing so, pCAP1 influences the sensitivity and responsiveness of cells to external signals, particularly in the context of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) pathway.
