Equine CD4 is a critical surface glycoprotein expressed on a subset of T lymphocytes, specifically CD4+ T cells, which play a central role in the adaptive immune response of horses. CD4+ T cells are essential for orchestrating immune responses by recognizing antigens presented by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) through the major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC-II) molecules.
