Target Information

Paraoxonase 1 is the most extensively studied member of the paraoxonase family. It has multifunctional roles in several biochemical pathways such as protection against oxidative damage and lipid peroxidation, contribution to innate immunity, and detoxification of reactive molecules. Research has shown that PON1 activity is higher in sheep compared to other mammalian species, and there is an association between PON1 in serum and follicular fluid only.
