Serum albumin, often simply referred to as blood albumin, is the most abundant protein found in the blood plasma. It plays several crucial roles in maintaining overall health. Albumin binds and transports fatty acids, which are essential for energy production and various cellular functions, throughout the bloodstream. Pigeon serum albumin (ALB) was found to be structurally similar to human serum albumin as judged by near- and far-UV CD spectra. However, they showed differences in bilirubin binding properties.
