Target Information

Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) (EC 1.1.1.42) and (EC 1.1.1.41) is an enzyme that catalyses the oxidative decarboxylation of isocitrate to produce alpha-ketoglutarate (α-ketoglutarate) and CO2. This is a two-step process involving the oxidation of isocitrate (a secondary alcohol) to oxalosuccinate (a ketone), followed by the decarboxylation of the beta-carboxyl group to the ketone to produce alpha-ketoglutarate. IDH1 is a key NADPH generator in cells, necessary for the regeneration of GSH from GSSH. Research has shown that silencing IDH1 leads to increased levels of ROS, which induce granulosa cell apoptosis.
