Target Information
Triosephosphate isomerase (TPI), which is also known as TIM, is an essential enzyme involved in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. Triosephosphate Isomerase is encoded by the TPI1 gene in pigs. It is a dimeric enzyme which converts glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate to dehydroxyacetone phosphate, a key reaction in glycolysis. TPI catalyzes the reversible conversion between two triose phosphate isomers: dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) and D-glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (GAP).
