Target Information
Bovine interleukin 16 (IL-16) is a multifunctional cytokine involved in immune regulation and cellular signaling. It is primarily known for its role in attracting and activating CD4+ T cells, monocytes, and eosinophils through its interaction with the CD4 receptor. IL-16 is synthesized as a precursor protein, which can be cleaved to release an active, secreted peptide that functions as a chemotactic factor. In addition to its chemotactic properties, IL-16 is involved in modulating T cell activation, proliferation, and apoptosis, with its effects being concentration-dependent.
