Target Information

Chicken IgY, also known as immunoglobulin Y, is a type of antibody found in chicken egg yolks. It is produced by B cells in the chicken's immune system and transferred to the egg yolk during the egg formation process. IgY has several advantages over mammalian IgG, including its cost-effective extraction from eggs, reduced reactivity with mammalian factors, and the ability to target highly conserved mammalian proteins. This makes it a promising candidate for passive immunization against various infections, such as Salmonella and Campylobacter, in both animals and humans.
